2026! Jan 13th Set

Happy New Year everyone.

We are back on the 13th with the following set. I tried to do a theme based around the word ‘cold’ but couldn’t find enough relevant songs! So it’s a random selection…..

American Pie – Annie’s Song – Bad Moon Rising – Be My Baby – Big Yellow Taxi – California Dreaming – Can’t Help Falling In Love – Crocodile Rock – Daydream Believer -Can’t Take My Eyes Of You – Dirty Old Town – Every Breath You Take – Gimme Some Loving – Hard Days Night – Hit The Road

For any new people coming –

You can look at the music in the songbook (link above) but I will bring paper copies so there is no need to print out the tracks (unless you want to)

Come round to the side door from about 7 40pm

Bring a stand if you have one

There is parking in the car park and on street

Xmas round up and 2026 dates….

Hi all, thanks for another fun year of meeting up and playing. Beth and I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. We’ve had the 10th anniversary do, another Fight Against Blindness charity concert, outdoor gigs and other fun performances. Not to mention the epic A to Z trek through the repertoire. We very nearly played everything!

The Epsom WI concert was great fun, and they kindly gave us £150 which via Suzanne has been passed onto FAB who were very pleased!

Well done to everyone who played at the Manor Park Xmas light switch on. It was a nice event and I thought we did well in not the easiest of circumstances!

Tim has let me know that The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain are performing at seven thirty on Saturday, 10th January at Dorking Halls if anyone is interested in seeing them. I know a few people who have been before and they all say it is a fun night.

Here are the 2026 dates for the first quarter –

January – 13, 27

February – 10, 24

March – 10, 24

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2026!

Chris and Beth

Last session of the year! 9/12/25

Hi all, A few bits of gig info and the final session’s set……..

The Epsom WI Christmas gig went well, well done everyone. There are a couple of pics at the bottom of the post. We also got paid! We will have a chat at the next session about where to donate the money…..

Regarding the concert on Sunday –

All the info given in the post below this one (Nov26) still applies so scroll down to that. Also –

The organiser has confirmed we should turn up for 4 30pm although you are welcome to arrive earlier if you are interested in the event/market/food. We will start at 5 15, play until 5.50, they will turn on the lights and then we will play for another 15 mins or so. Don’t be suprised if those timings become flexible.

They have asked if we can possibly play for a bit longer, suggesting we could do non-xmas tunes. So please bring – Cecilia (with Kazoo), Dedicated Follower Of Fashion, Delilah, Five Hundred Miles, See You Later Alligator. We probably won’t need them all! Other than that the set will be the same as WI Epsom gig.

Apparently you might be able to park in Manor Park Car Park. Malden Manor station is close too so that might be an option. If not try the surrounding streets. Might be worth a google!

Plough Green, Church Lane, Worcester Park, KT4 7RD

We need lots of us there to carry the sound outdoors, so please come if you can!

Here is the set for the 9/12/25 –

A couple of left over Christmas tunes…..Blue Christmas, I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day

And then what is left of the alphabet plus a couple we missed (although we may not do all of them….)

We Have all the Time in the World, What A Wonderful World (Armstrong), Wild Horses, Yakety Yak, Yellow, You Can’t Hurry Love, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Women, You Really Got A Hold On Me, You Wear It Well, Your Cheatin’ Heart, You’re Are My Best Friend, You’re So Vain, You’re The One That I Want, You’ve Got A Friend

Christmas concert news….

Hi all,

Epsom – 3/12 – 2 30pm

For next Wednesday’s gig they have asked us to turn up at 2 30 (they can’t get into the room before that!)

Here is the address – The Methodist Church, Ashley Road Epsom KT18 5AQ

They have said they can give us some parking spaces but need to know how many permits we require. So if you want one let me know over the next day or so…..If they can’t supply enough there are various multistorey car parks in Epsom (they suggested The Ashley Centre Car Park). They will have chairs for those that like to play sitting down but feel free to stand.

Old Malden Light Switch On -7/12 – 4 30pm

I have asked the Malden Manor people if there will be lighting in the tent – they have said it will be lit but stand lights/ some sort of extra lighting might be advisable. Beth and I have five sets of stand lights that we will bring, hopefully if a few others have some too we will be fine.

Parking wise, having looked at the map I think we will just be trying to find spaces on the surrounding streets.

They have said the performance will be between 5 and 6pm.

Wrap up warm! Bring pegs to secure your music. Fingerless gloves might not be a bad idea. If you need a chair you might need to bring your own.

The address – Plough Green, Church Lane, Worcester Park, KT4 7RD

This will be the set for the gigs –

Merry Christmas Everyone (D), Feliz Navidad (G), Jingle Bell Rock (A), Let It Snow, Fairytale of New York, Must Be Santa, Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, Santa Baby, White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (G), Winter Wonderland, Merry Christmas Everybody, We Wish You A Merry Christmas

If you don’t have the versions of the tunes that are in a new key don’t worry, I have spare copies and anyway we will probably share stands. They are in the ‘songbook’ on the website if you want to have a look.

Feel free to dress festively if you like (it’s not mandatory!). Any questions just give me a shout.

Set for 25/11/25

Hi everyone

I will put the xmas tunes into the songbook soon.

The organiser has given me the address – Plough Green, Church Lane, Worcester Park, KT4 7RD

Hi everyone

I’ve had a call from the Friends on Manor Park and they have asked if we would like to play our Xmas set at the ‘Old Malden Christmas Light Switch On’ on Sunday 7th December in the Malden area.

The details I have are we would play in a gazebo from 5pm for about 45 mins. There should be a good crowd to watch and sing along.

It obviously might not be warm but we at least won’t get wet, and they have a PA to mic us up if needs be. I think it will be a good fun gig but they need to know ASAP if we can do it. I’ve said I will get back to them by Friday morning so I need a decent amount of ‘definites’ before then. Let me know if you are interested.

The set for next week doesn’t have any new ones but I have changed the key of a couple of them.

We Can Work it Out – What a Wonderful World (COOKE) – When I’m Dead and Gone (Key changed) -When I’m 64 – Whiskey in My Whiskey – Whisky in the Jar (Key changed) – Whole Lotta Shakin’/Chantilly Lace – Witchita Lineman – Wild Rover – Wild World – Wildwood Flower – With a Little Help From My Friends – Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow – Wonderful Tonight – Without You

Surbiton Festival/Session on the 30.9.25/Waitrose Bansted….

Surbiton Festival

Hi everyone, lots of info for you…..

Firstly, the Surbiton Festival is happening this Saturday. We are very short on numbers so if you can make it please come. Even if you didn’t come to the rehearsal or haven’t played with us for a while!

Here is the set list – Hound Dog, Cecilia (with Kazoo), Country Roads, See You Later Alligator, Every Day, Delilah, King Of The Road, Help, I Wanna Be Like You, Proud Mary, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Dedicated Follower Of Fashion, Five Hundred Miles

We are on at 12pm in the same place as last year (Claremont Gardens – near Waitrose and the Station) – If everyone can be there around half an hour before we go on that would be great. Bring a stand, if you can play standing up do so, if not bring something to sit on. Also bring a couple of pegs to stop your music blowing around. Weather is currently looking OK but keep your fingers crossed….

There is a big car park behind Surbiton Station which should be OK to use if you need parking. Alternatively come by bus or train! Here is a link to the website which has all the info – Surbiton Festival

Secondly, we are back on Tuesday 30th for the next session, and I am returning to my alphabetical odyssey through the songbook. We are up to ‘S’ – here is the set

Space Oddity, Spirit in the Sky, Spooky, Stand By Me, Starman, Streets of London, Stuck in the Middle with You, Stupid Cupid, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Surfing USA, Summer Of 69, Sunny Afternoon, Super Trouper, Sway, Sweet Caroline

And finally, Colin sent me this message –

‘We have had an invite via my daughter Emma to perform 30 minutes of Christmas songs in the front entrance of Waitrose Banstead on Thursday 11th Dec. The exact time to be arranged  between  5 – 7 pm’

It sounds fun but unless I get work cancellations it’s going to be a bit difficult for me. But Colin did say he was happy to lead it so it could be a goer! We can discuss on Tuesday and see if there are available numbers. And we will have just done the Christmas session on the 9th so the songs will all be in tip top shape.

I think that’s everything, see you Saturday/Tuesday.
