FAB Charity gig on the 10th

Hi everyone, hope as many of you as possible can make it to the concert next Tuesday. We are going to be a few people down for various reasons so every person counts! Don’t worry if you didn’t come to the rehearsal last week, come anyway.

The set will be the same as last time (see below) and we will start at 8pm (for anyone that doesn’t know we are playing in the Methodist hall as usual – the audience are coming to us). I have made song sheets so the audience will be able to sing along…..

The tickets are sold out!

Please can everyone pay me their fees (£10) in cash for this week only, once I have covered the Hall cost the rest will be donated to FAB.

Any questions just give me a shout. Looking forward to it!

Set for the 26/9 and FAB Charity gig on the 10/10

Hi everybody

We are booked in for another charity session on the 10th October raising money for the Fight Against Blindness charity. We did a similar concert about a year ago raising about £400 so it is well worth it. What’s really convenient is the audience come to us at our normal rehearsal time!

The plan will be to practise the set at the next meet up on the 26th, and then if you can all pay cash the following on the 10th we will donate those fees (minus the hall hire) along with the ticket sales to FAB.

Hopefully lots of you will be about for this…. Any new or prospective members please come and join in too! There is no need to be nervous, and definitely the more of us the better!

Here is the set, I will bring paper copies on the night so need to print anything if you are missing any/all of the tunes. I’ve picked good sing-a-long tunes hopefully…..

Five Hundred Miles, I’m a Believer, I’m Into Something Good, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, Leaving On a Jet Plane, Rock and Roll Music, See You Later Alligator, Should I Stay Or Should I Go, Streets of London, Sunny Afternoon, Sweet Caroline, Urban Spaceman, Waterloo, You’re Cheatin’ Heart, Bring Me Sunshine

Session on the 12th September 2023

Hi everyone, welcome back after the summer! Hope you had fun.

We’re back on the 12th, same time and place (details are here for any new people). Just to say if you know anyone who wants to just come and sing along they will be very welcome.

This term I’m going to do a few decade based sessions and we are starting off with the 50’s. There will be FOUR new songs (!) but they are all easy.

Here we go –

All I have to do is Dream, Calender Girl, C’mon Everybody, Cigareets and Whuskey, Dirty Old Town, Fats Domino Medley, Ghost Riders in the Sky, I Walk the Line, Jailhouse Rock, Lipstick on you Collar, Little Richard Medley, Living Doll, *Rave On*, *Rock and Roll Music*, See you later Alligator, Whole Lotta Shakin’/Chantilly Lace, *Yakety Yak*,*Your Cheatin’ Heart*

I’ve also made a quick image/poster promoting the night if anyone fancies sharing it online or putting it up in a library…….

Dates for the diary…..

Hi everyone

We will start up again on September the 12th and then the dates up to Christmas will be as follows….

September 12 and 26

October 10 and 31 (note there is an extra weeks gap for half term)

November 14 and 28

December 12.

Tell all your friends! Also feel free to bring anyone who just wants to sing along, the more the merrier.

I think there was talk of another Fight against Blindness concert at some point, and if anyone has any suggestions for concerts or wants to volunteer us for something just let me know, it’s always fun to have a gig in the pipeline.

18 7 23

Hi everyone, this will be the last session before a summmer break. One new one by the Beatles!

*Revolution*, Mr Tambourine Man, People are Strange, Rabbit, Rocket Man, Rockin all over the World, She, Stand by Me, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Sweet Caroline, That’ll Be the Day, The Bare Necessities, Beach Boys Medley, These Boots are Made for Walking, Whiskey in the Jar, All Shook Up, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Set for 4th July 23!

Having just written the date in the heading I now realise that I should have done some sort of American Independence Day theme, which would have been much better than the theme that I did do……too late! Never mind, see if you can spot my thinking…..

A Whiter Shade of Pale, Bad Moon Rising, Cecilia, Dancing In the Street, End of the Line, Friday I’m in Love, Girls just want to have fun, Hit The Road, I Heard it through the Grapevine, Jambalaya, King of the Road, Losing my Religion, My Way, Nights in White Satin, Obladi Oblada, Paint it Black.

The set can be found here. If I get a few minutes I will try to stick in a new one too!

See you there!

Set for the 20th June

Hi everyone, if I can get a new song in I will, but as it stands this is the set for the 20th

American Pie, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Crazy, Crocodile Rock, Da Doo Ron Ron, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Going Up The Country, Goody Two Shoes, Great Balls Of Fire, Here Comes the Sun, I Feel Like I’m Fixing to Die, Little Richard Medley, Lola, Minnie The Moocher, Rawhide, Shake Rattle and Roll, Streets of London

If you have never been before but are curious come and have a go. We don’t bite and everyone makes lots of mistakes all the time. There is no pressure to be good, we are just having fun.

Set for the 6th June

EDIT – I have added River Deep Mountain High to the list!

Hi all, I’m on half term next week so am getting the set organised early. I’m hoping to add a new one when I get some inspiration……

You can see the files here…..

Be Bop a Lula, Baby I Love You, Calender Girl (this was new last week), Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, See You Later Alligator, Sit Down, Should I Stay Or Should I Go, Sloop John B, Son of a Preacher Man, Starman, Sway, Under The Boardwalk, Walk Like an Egyptian, Walk Of Life, Walking On Sunshine, What A Wonderful World

One other thing, I had the following helpful notice from Suzanne this morning, worth bearing in mind!

“Chessington District Residents’ Association are holding their AGM at the Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday 6 June at 7.30pm.………….the group should be aware that it is possible that the car park will be full and surrounding roads may be full of parked cars!”

Hopefully it won’t be too bad! There is free parking on the streets either side of the church and on the main road, and also on the other side of the roundabout……The last time this happened Judith asked me to ask you not to use the car park so I’m assuming that will be the case this time too. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Set list for 23 5 23! Videos from the gig too….

Here is the set list for next Tuesday, hope to see you there! New faces are always welcome.

Here are a load of videos from the set we played for the 8 O’Clock Circle from Steve and Aitors partners (many thanks!). It was a great evening and everyone had a good time. They have kindly made a donation to the Fight Against Blindness Charity as a way of saying thank you to us for playing.
