Next session and gig news

Hi everyone

The next gig will be at the Brave New World pub in Surbiton on Sunday 10th June. We will be playing 8 songs, stage time approx 8 30.

I thought for the next session we would basically run through a long list of potential songs to see which ones are in good shape and which ones people are happy to do. So the list for the next practice session (on the 29th) will be –

Back for Good, Ballad of John and Yoko, Be My Baby, Da Do Ron Ron, Daydream Believer, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Delilah, Everyday, It Must be Love, Proud Mary, Rhinestone Cowboy, Spirit in the Sky, The Weight, These Boots are made for Walking, This Train is bound for Glory, Thorn in my Side, Valerie, What a Wonderful World.

We probably won’t get through them all! If anyone has any other suggestions of tunes they really want to play let me know….

Next session 1/5

Hi all

The next session will be a Simon and Garfunkel special.  Here are some tunes and links to get you in the mood…..

We already do Mrs Robinson (first chord E major), and Cecilia in G. We will be adding The Boxer (chord sheet), The Sound of Silence (chord sheet), and 50 ways to leave your lover (chord sheet). They vary in difficulty but I think it should be fun!

Aside from that we will do The Weight (in G) again plus, Hey Good Looking, Brown Eyed Girl, C’est La Vie, Da Do Ron Ron, People are Strange, When I’m dead and gone, Lola, Jolene, Valerie…..

Looking forward to it!

Chris

Next session and gig news…

Hi everybody

We have a gig booked! It is on the 27th March at the George Evelyn Open Mic Night in Long Ditton; I think we will be on at around 8 30.

I’ve got next weeks set for the group session (on the 20th) sorted out and the seven song set for the gig will come from it, so if anyone wants to do a bit of practise then they can. But the gig really is nothing to worry about for any of you who haven’t played before – not only is there safety in numbers but also the crowd who come to these nights are very friendly. And the word ‘crowd’ is an exaggeration.

Don’t worry if you can’t/aren’t sure about/definitely don’t want to do the gig – everyone is welcome to the session at the library as normal.

Anyway, next weeks set list –

And then I Kissed Her, Bad Moon Rising, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Come on up to the House, Everyday, Folsom Prison Blues/Pinball Wizard, Goody Two Shoes, Happy Together, Hound Dog, Living Doll, Rocking all over the World, Sloop John B, Stuck in the Middle with you, Sunny Afternoon, These Boots are made for Walking.

Thanks to Kate and Martin for their input on this list!

Next session….

….is on the 23rd.

No particular theme, just a couple of new ones and then some classics including SOS, Delilah, Stuck in the Middle, Mr Blue Sky (uh oh!), Love me do….

Come down and join in! Even if you are a bit shy and only know a couple of chords – it’s the perfect to play music with other people with no pressure.
