Session on the 17th Jan 2023!

Hi everyone, happy new year and off we go again!

We are meeting in the same place at the same time – see the ‘Session Info’ link above for more details. Last year the hall rental went up so please note I am putting the prices up by a pound (£9 online, £10 in cash).

Here is the set list, there are a couple of new ones and a nod to the passing of Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie –

Don’t Stop, You’re So Vain, *You Wear it Well*, Whole lotta Shaking/Chantilly Lace, With a Little Help From My Friends, Waterloo Sunset, Waterloo, Venus, Valerie, *To Love Somebody*, Tainted Love, Sway, Starman, Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay, Sit Down, Should I Stay or Should I Go

New members are very welcome, come and see what we’re about. It’s more about having fun and meeting people than getting all the chords right!

Happy Christmas and see you in 2023…..

Beth and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well done to everyone who played at the Women’s Institute xmas evening which went really well. Hopefully we will be able to do more concerts in the near future.

Thanks to everyone who has come to the sessions this year, it’s been great fun as always and we hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have.

We’re looking forward to getting started again in 2023, and the dates for the first few months are as follows –

January 17 and 31

February 14 and 28

March 14 and 28

See you soon!

Xmas session and gig…..

The last session of 2022 will be on the 6th (not the 29th), and there is a concert on the 8th at the Parish Hall in Hook.

Here are the details for Thursday 8th – Hook and Southborough Hall, 224 Hook Road, KT9 1PL. In an email today the organiser asked if we can arrive at 7 15 and start at 7 30, please let me know if you have any issues with that! There is a bit of parking around the back and on the nearby streets. As I mentioned at the last rehearsal, we could wonder over to the North Star (appropriate) afterwards for a Christmas drink.

We will play these tunes first to get them ‘gig ready’ –

Merry Christmas Everyone, Blue Christmas, Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Let it Snow, Santa Baby, Jingle Bell Rock, Winter Wonderland, Feliz Navidad,White Christmas, Merry Xmas Everybody

and then if we have time left on Tuesday we will play some of these for fun –

I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day, Have Yourselves a Merry Little Christmas, Must be Santa, Frosty The Snowman, Santa Looked alot like Daddy, Fairytale of New York

Let me know if you have any questions! For the sheet downloaders amongst you, here is a link from last year. The order might not be correct but all the songs should be there.

Session on the 15/11/22, Xmas concert(s?)

Hi everyone, here is the set list for next Tuesday. I am hoping to get a new tune in but haven’t sorted it out yet!

So as it stands we will do these –

And then I kissed her, Blowing in the Wind, Blue Suede Shoes, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Brown Eyed Girl, California Dreaming, Cecilia, Chanson D’amour, Crippled Inside, Dancing in the Street, Don’t Get Me Wrong, Fats Domino Medley, Folsom Prison/Pinball Wizard, Friday I’m in Love, Go Now, Great Balls Of Fire, Hard Days Night.

I may drop one or two if I get new ones ready.

We will be having an extra weeks break after this and so will reconvene on the 6th of December where we will be preparing for the W.I. Christmas concert on the 8th.

If enough of the group would like to do a special concert for their friends and family I could probably swing it with the Church to do it on the 15th (we could do the Christmas set again), but I need to know we can get enough band and audience there to make it worthwhile. Alternatively we could do a concert in the new year instead. So have a think, and I’ll organise whatever we decide.

Next Session on 1st Nov and gig vids…..

Hi everyone. Well done to all that got to the gig, it went really well (even Rabbit!) and we had some nice comments from the audience. I’m guessing we must have raised around £400 for Fight Against Blindness so good work! There are some videos of the performance here

The set will be pretty much the same as on the 4th (see below) minus SOS!

Next session is on the 4th October….

Hi everyone, we will be playing through the songs for the concert on the 18th in aid of FAB (Fight against Blindness). Don’t let this stop you from coming to join in if you are new and fancy coming along to try us out, or if you know you can’t make the 18th.
